Our Mission

Our mission is to empower children who have limited opportunities to experience science by expanding their understanding of the world around them through the study of flight.

Our goal is to foster a lasting interest in discovering the principles of the physical world and to provide a basic understanding of the underlying mechanisms that make things work.

Our Strategy

We develop and teach our own science and math curriculum around basic principles of flight. Discussions of “What makes a plane fly?” include concepts such as parts of a plane, forces that affect flight, air foil and the flow of air over the wing, angle of attack, vortex formation, center of gravity, anhedral vs dihedral, symmetry, balance, and more.

The lessons foster an inquisitive mind and the creativity to solve problems as well as the experience of working together as a team to build, fly, test, and improve the models

Going Places

"My passion is to address the needs of children in poor communities by providing a stimulating opportunity to learn science. The Mission Ignite program teaches kids the basic scientific process of formulating and testing hypotheses by constructing and comparing the flights of different models. This experience with basic experimentation serves to ignite an interest in scientific concepts that can have a life-changing impact.”
